Airmail Greetings once again becomes a proud sponsor of the "REEL STUFF" Film Festival of Aviation, hosted by the National Aviation Hall of Fame.
It brings us great pride to share with you the official, second annual "Reel Stuff" 2009 flagship poster art just completed for the National Aviation Hall of Fame, and Executive Director, Mr. Ron Kaplan, a true custodian of our aviation heritage.
This year we pay tribute to the legendary B-17, the "Memphis Belle", as both the original 1944, Billy Wyler documentary, and the 1990 HBO film release will be featured as two of the many headline movies to be screened at this years four day event. As Airmail artist, Joe Jones was fortunate enough to spend time with her famous pilot before his passing, Jones wanted to create a tangible tribute to Col. Robert Morgan and his entire crew. With a personally autographed photo of Morgan and his crew within arms length throughout the development phase, Jones worked for weeks to bring the spirit of this famous crew into this years official event art.
Illustrated as she looked still with her 24th mission markings, this years signature event art boldly depicts the "Memphis Belle" buzzing the tower as Morgan, and his crew become the first B-17 crew during WWII to complete their 25th, and final mission.
Be sure to join us at this years exciting B-17 blow-out aviation film event, March 12-15 which will be held in Dayton, OH.
