Sometimes called the "kaydet", the legendary Stearman trainer was known at the PT-17 when delivered to the Army flight training centers. The Navy designations were N2S-1 and N2S-4. From 1933 through 1945 there were 10,346 built which were used to train nearly 60,000 military pilots in the early 1940's.

Although, with a Stearman there is no such thing as a bad view, determining that "perfect" but illusive beauty shot of this classic bird, along with a strong light source were the very first things established. Everything else in the illustration was built around this initial perspective.
